A Cut Above

July 1, 2014 | By Waikiki Magazine Team

What’s new—and sizzling—in Waikiki’s steak houses.

Waikiki is, quite surprisingly, a meat lovers’ mecca. To ease your dinner planning woes, we’ve scouted the district to uncover the latest meaty bits of what’s cooking in our favorite steak houses. In our ode to prime beef, we’ve called out eateries serving reinvented porters and Wagyu at a cut above.

BLT Steak

Renowned for European-bistro-meets-American-steakhouse flair and weekly Blackboard Specials (a three-course, $60 prix-fixe menu), BLT Steak is a local and visitor favorite where USDA prime and certified Angus beef are always on the menu. Whether a 10 oz. Hanger, 8 oz. Filet or American Wagyu Skirt sliced at 10 oz., each is aged to maximize tenderness, then broiled at 1700 degrees in herb butter to finish. Top it off: Garnish a cool blue or medium pink with Roquefort or Red Wine sauce to mold a custom cut.
