Eye Candy

Freaky Tiki Tropical Optical partners Mark Babin and Marshall Marumoto put aloha and fun in shopping for sunglasses. With three locations in Waikiki (Waikiki Beach Walk, Outrigger Reef Hotel and Outrigger Waikiki Hotel) and a large and diverse selection of brands, finding the perfect fit and frames for your face will be a breeze.

How did Freaky Tiki Tropical Optical start?

We saw an opportunity in the specialty sunglass market for a great retailer who would provide superior customer service, professional product knowledge and the best selection of quality sunglasses available on the market. We wanted to be better and more fun than the current retail options, so we made sure that we had a fun name, classic rock music and factory-trained sunglass specialists who ensured that you got the right frame and lens every time.

Describe the “Freaky Tiki Creed.”

Our Creed is how we live. It’s how we treat each other and our guests. It’s how we look at life. It reminds us every day of what is important and to appreciate all that we have and to “pass on the stoke” to others!

What distinguishes Freaky Tiki from other sunglass stores?

Freaky Tiki is tropical optical. We treat our guests with aloha and provide the best selection of quality sunglasses in Hawai’i.

What are some of your favorites brands and/or styles of sunglasses?

It depends on your needs for that day. Maui Jim is great for paddling and fishing, Oakleys are really good for running and exercising outside and Ray-Bans are always a good call when you’re out cruising.

What is special about Waikiki to you?

Waikiki has always been special to us because the water is magical. If you’ve ever surfed a Waikiki wave on a surf-board, SUP or canoe, you will feel the magic. The warm, blue ocean moving over the white sand while you ride the wave is a feeling that never gets old.
