Paddle out and around Waikiki Beach in a double-hull canoe and relive this ancient Hawaiian experience.

Take a break from languishing under the sun and put some muscles to use while discovering the ancient Hawaiian sport of paddling.

Located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Waikiki Beach Activities offers a double-hull canoe program led by legendary world champion Hawaiian paddlers that features cultural and educational components. The only one of its kind offered at the Hilton Hawaiian Village—and in Waikiki—the family-fun program is of particular importance because of the property’s former resident, famous waterman Duke Kahanamoku.

“When the program was crafted, we really wanted to make it different than the other canoe programs that are offered around the state,” says Michael Murray, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We wanted to really illustrate the significance of place here on this location.”

Each session emphasizes the activity’s historical significance and provides information about its origins as well as traditional navigational practices, ancient Hawaiian chants and more.

After receiving instruction, depart from Duke’s Beach and paddle in waters along Diamond Head for a culturally integrative and scenic excursion.
