Get your fill at Pikake Terrace.

Chances are, if you are reading this, you’re on vacation or, for kama‘aina, a stay-cation in Waikiki. Vacations (whether far or close to home) are a chance for indulgence and the Pikake Terrace has diners covered in that area day and night.

Pikake Terrace’s garden setting allows guests to enjoy the fresh air as they dine poolside. Start the day of with a sumptuous breakfast buffet that’s open from 6 a.m. (for you early risers) to 11 a.m. (for those who’d rather saunter than charge into your day). The menu here covers American and Asian/Pacific favorites so there’s a chance to be a little adventurous (miso soup with diced tofu and other Japanese selections) or stick to tried-and-true comfort foods (scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and cereals). You can choose to go light with fresh fruits or a salad. Just be sure to wash it all down with pineapple, orange or guava juice. A continental breakfast is also available.

Come dinnertime (5:30-9 p.m. daily), Pikake Terrace is a great choice every day, thanks to a rotating menu. Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays you can dine on kalua pork and cabbage, oven baked teriyaki chicken and sauteed mahi mahi on Ka‘u orange nage. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the menu includes breaded calamari crisps with togarashi aioli, pulehu chicken with red Thai curry sauce and Mediterranean-style braised pork. Highlights of the Tuesday and Saturday bill of fare include roasted pork with herb red wine sauce and broiled hibachi chicken with a Hamakua mushroom sauce.

Regardless of which day it is, the menu always includes an array of fresh salads, soup, seafood, maki and inari sushi and, undoubtedly the highlights: steamed crab legs and prime rib of beef served up with a thyme-infused au jus and creamy horseradish. End everything on a sweet note at the build-your-own ice cream sundae bar or a medley of treats from the full dessert station.

Thanks to its hearty offerings, Pikake Terrace is the perfect place to dine for everyday meals as well as special occasions—something to keep in mind this holiday season.
