In the Mix: Waikiki’s Must-Try Cocktails

April 2, 2012 | By Waikiki Magazine Team

From tropical and fruity to rich and decadent, Waikiki has a selection of clever cocktails that will tantalize your taste buds—in venues that tout views of the sunset, ocean or offer an intimate ambiance.

Cucumber Cosmotolo-Gin

Rivals Waikiki
2211 Kuhio Ave., (808) 923-0600

The new ultralounge that’s adding a new spin to Waikiki nightlife offers its twist on a classic cocktail, the cosmopolitan. Bombay gin and Bols triple sec are bound by freshly pressed lime and cranberry. The twist is the infusion of fresh cucumber accented with the traditional lemon twist. The result is a libation that offers the tang of cranberry with subtle hints of cucumber, juniper berries and fresh citrus.

Blue Hawaii Mai Tai

Legends in Concert Waikiki
Royal Hawaiian Center, (808) 629-SHOW (7469)

You’ve always loved Elvis, and you’re in Hawai‘i, so what better drink to sip while you’re watching “him” perform at Legends in Concert than the Blue Hawaii Mai Tai? This signature drink is a blend of coconut rum, pineapple juice, Blue Curacao and a float of dark rum.

White Peach Sangria

Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, (808) 237-6140

This popular drink at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki’s new poolside bar is a concoction that blends Pinot Grigio, Svedka clementine and peach schnapps with refreshing dashes of fresh citrus juices.

Spicy Peach Martini

RumFire Waikiki
Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, (808) 922-4422

For those looking to add a spicy kick to their cocktail, the light libation features Bacardi peach red rum, orange juice and dash of hot sauce—served in a cayenne pepper-sugar rimmed martini glass. Quickly becoming one of RumFire’s signature faves, the spicy peach martini is a definite must-try.

R.I.A.

Nobu Waikiki
Waikiki Parc Hotel, (808) 237-6999

You may have heard about its extensive sake menu, but there are also cocktails aplenty at this see-and-be-seen hot spot. We particularly like the R.I.A. Made with Nobu cabernet, peach brandy, Calpico and topped with Prosecco, the sparkling cocktail is sweet, bubbly and a great complement to the restaurant/ lounge’s delicious starters (like its sashimi tacos).
