The Penthouse at Aqua Lotus

Imagine waking up to a Diamond Head view so close, it seems you can reach out and touch its iconic mountainside. That’s just one of the treats for dwellers of The Penthouse at Aqua Lotus.

With its wraparound lanai, this “I can practically kiss Diamond Head” view is a prominent feature at The Penthouse. Located at the quiet end of Kalakaua Avenue, a stay in this posh suite on the top floor of Aqua Lotus gives guests the best of both worlds: a chance to get away from the bustle, combined with the property’s proximity to the beach and Kapi‘olani Park.

Indeed, it’s Waikiki’s natural environment that attracted travelers to this south shore getaway in the first place. Aqua Lotus makes it easy for modern-day visitors to make the most of the great outdoors. Here, you can make use of beach cruiser bikes (gratis) to explore Waikiki on two wheels or commune with the shady greens of Kapi‘olani Park at the property’s four-times-a-week yoga classes (mats provided). And, with the beach mere steps away from the hotel, guests can take complimentary beach towels and chairs and have their toes in the sand within a few minutes.

After a long day exploring the outdoor beauty of Waikiki, return to The Penthouse, where a master suite, complete with a king bed, walk-in closet and stellar views of Diamond Head and Kapi‘olani Park await. (That grand building on the slopes of Diamond Head? That’s former private estate-turned-private school La Pietra Hawaii School for Girls.) There’s also a second bedroom furnished with two double beds and its own bathroom as well. The dining table seats eight, perfect for your entourage, and the full kitchen makes meal prep a delight. Southeast Asian touches and decor pepper The Penthouse, adding to the suite’s tropical-hideaway feel.

For entertaining, there’s the plush living area, three 42-inch televisions, and don’t forget that wrap-around lanai—perfect for watching the sun sink into the ocean from a perch high above the beach. What more entertainment do you need?

We don’t recommend it, but if work beckons while you’re enjoying your respite from the real world, you can take care of business in the suite’s mini office/library, equipped with Internet access.

Aqua Lotus is a boutique hotel that makes the most of its smaller size by providing great service and amenities. So, while you may be tempted to stay in your “castle” away from the maddening crowds, don’t miss the chance to mingle with fellow guests at the daily coffee and wine service in the hotel’s luxe lobby.

Whether you plan on a place to rest in between adventuring through any and every outdoor activity Waikiki has to offer, or you’re just looking for a place to escape, The Penthouse at Aqua Lotus certainly fits the bill.
