Summer Concert Series Returns to Waikiki Aquarium

It’s a chance to take in the musical stylings of some of Hawai‘i’s favorite musicians in an intimate ocean front setting. In what has become a popular summertime event, the Ke Kani O Ke Kai concert series takes the stage at the Waikiki Aquarium.

The performances are set for Thursday nights from June 14 through August 9. Kicking off the series is Kuana Torres Kahele and Mark Yamanaka and Darren Benitez. Other scheduled performers include Grammy-nominated Raiatea Helm, ukulele phenol Jake Shimabukuro and the legendary HAPA.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the concerts starting at 7 p.m. Concertgoers can peruse the aquarium galleries, which will stay open throughout the night. Dine on offerings from local restaurants such as Big City Diner, Hula Grill Waikiki and Yama’s Fish Market.

“Ke Kani O Ke Kai is a great musical series for families and friends of all ages to visit the Waikiki Aquarium and end the night with amazing local music and delicious food,” says Director Andrew Rossiter, Ph.D.

Tickets are $185 for the entire series ($60 for junior series 7 to 12 years) and individual concert tickets are $45 for adults and $15 for children aged 7 to 12 years; children 6 years old and younger are admitted free of charge. Discounts are available for Friends of Waikiki Aquarium (FOWA) members. Due to space limitations, only the first 650 ticket sales will be accepted. Low sand chairs and beach mats are preferred; guests will be seated according to height of their chair, at the discretion of aquarium staff. For tickets, call Honolulu Box Office at (808) 550-8457 or purchase online at www.honoluluboxoffice.com.
