Not-So-Standard Sub

Swim with the fishes without getting soaked!

Get a fisheye view of the waters off Waikiki with Atlantis Submarines. This unique tour takes you and your family—via one of the world’s most technologically advanced passenger submarines—on an undersea adventure.

Starting form Duke Kahanamoku Beach fronting the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort, guests are shuttled aboard Atlantis’ Discover boat to the dive site. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head Crater.

Once at the dive site, adventurers are transferred to the spacious submarine. Here, large portals allow for clear and easy viewing of the environs just outside the sub—an artificial reef pulsating with marine life.

Making this tour stand out is the fact that Atlantis has been at the forefront of the eco-tourism movement, well before it became the “thing to do.” Located in an area once devoid of marine life, Atlantis’ artificial reefs have revitalized the waters off Waikiki. Eco-friendly and sustainable, the submarine emits no pollutants and takes it tour quietly through the water without disturbing the marine life.

“We’re committed to being responsible stewards of Hawai‘i’s marine life and very proud of the impact these artificial reefs have had on the vibrancy of Waikiki’s marine environment,” says Mark Almaraz, Waikiki General Manager of Atlantis Adventures.

As the sub descends to depths greater than 100 feet, guests will be introduced to a vibrant community of coral, fish, green sea turtles, even moray eels, stingrays and reef sharks.

It’s a sight few can get without scuba gear, and you get to see it in air-conditioned comfort, no less!
