Tucked away in The Breakers Hotel on Beach Walk is Wasabi Bistro, a charming gem of a restaurant off the beaten path of the bigger Waikiki thoroughfares. The menu features traditional Japanese dishes, modern interpretations of Japanese food and unique local Hawaiian-Japanese fusion fare.

Wasabi Bistro’s most popular dishes include Wasabi #1 (crab meat and avocado wrapped in white fish and baked with a secret sauce), Papaya Motoyaki (papaya boat filled with seafood and baked motoyaki-style) and Wasabi Spring Roll (sliced beef and lettuce spring roll wrapped and served with spicy miso sauce).

“Japanese home cooking with a Hawaiian flair,” says Ken Romaniszyn, managing director of Wasabi Bistro, when asked to describe the culinary style of food served. Expect the best of both worlds when having a meal here.

Open for lunch and dinner, eating at Wasabi Bistro is a delightful break from the hustle and bustle of Kalakaua—a wonderful and delicious surprise.
