Get into the beachy, sand, surf and sun vibe with Donovan Frankenreiter‘s latest album, Start Livin‘. The Hawai‘i-based singer/guitarist/ songwriter’s nine-track selection of folk-infused songs provide an intimate feel, as if you were sitting in on a beachfront kanikapila. And, it’s no wonder, since the album is biographical with sentiments straight from the songwriter’s heart. “Start Livin‘ is basically a love album,” says Frankenreiter, who co-produced the record with Matt Grundy and Adam Ableman. “Most of the songs are about my wrie and our two boys, and the life that we’ve built together in Hawai‘i.” Stand-out tracks include the title song, “West Coast Fool,” which features the unlikely combo of a banjo and Tibetan singing bowl, “Shine” and the poignant “A.I.,” written for Frankenreiter’s friend, the late champion surfer, Andy Irons.

Available at music retailers throughout Waikiki.
