Opened just a year ago, Sway Restaurant + Bar, in the lobby of the Stay Hotel Waikiki, is a sleek addition to the bar scene in Waikiki. You might come for the drinks, but you’ll stay for the food.

Sway’s menu focuses on American-Asian comfort food cuisine. According to assistant general manager David Bonilla, signature dishes include Crispy House Cut Belgian Fries with three sauces (Maytag blue cheese mayo, chipotle/adobo ketchup and whole grain pineapple/honey mustard), Kalbi Tacos, Roasted Beer Can Chicken and any of the island-raised grass-fed beef burgers.

Other favorite dishes on the menu include Sway’s take on chicken wings, listed on the menu as “Like No Other Wing You Have Ever Had…” (deep fried drumettes tossed in a wok with garlic, ginger, hoisin and sambal glaze) and Seared Ahi EntrĂ©e (fresh ‘ahi tuna rolled in fresh cracked pepper, lightly seared and served with rice, wasabi aioli and ginger).

Just as the menu invokes a feeling of comfort, so does the atmosphere— there’s an open kitchen to watch all the cooking action and bar, lounge or table seating is available—perfect for a quick meal and a drink or a long night to hang out with friends and catch up. Sway is open 4 p.m.-2 a.m., Monday through Saturday and 4 p.m.-12 a.m. on Sunday. Industry cardholders are always 20 percent off.
