P.F. Chang’s stirs up tantalizing, family-style fare.
With more than 150 restaurants around the world, P.F. Chang’s has literally become a household name. So when the purveyor of Chinese-American bistro-style cuisine opened their Waikiki location six years ago at Royal Hawaiian Center, it was destined for success.
One of the rare, spacious two-story restaurants in Waikiki (it can hold 400 diners), it also features an outdoor seating area with detailed Chinese décor— like hand-painted murals—each of which features a “hidden” pair of chopsticks.
The cuisine, often described as Chinese-American, is prepared to order and uses the freshest ingredients. The menu includes standouts like VIP Duck (a tender half duck served Cantonese style), Egg Drop Soup (a traditional favorite), Lo Mein (stir-fried noodles and vegetables with choice of protein) and Salt & Pepper Prawns. Regional dishes like Shrimp with Candied Walnuts (served with honeydew melon and a creamy sauce) or Chang’s Chicken Noodle Soup are unique.

According to P.F. Chang’s operating partner, Edward “Eki” Locke, the most popular items on the menu are P.F. Chang’s Spicy Chicken, Oolong Marinated Sea Bass and Mongolian Beef.
Locke describes the food as “Asian fusion,” and says that a new trend on the menu is the selection of gluten-free dishes. “One out of 10 people are gluten-free now,” Locke says. “We have 17 items on the menu for them to choose from.”
A limited-time offer menu, featuring six new island favorite dishes created by local guest chef, Chef Tate Nakano-Edwards, is also available now including Crispy Coconut Prawns, Garlic Prawns, Cantonese Style Steamed Snapper and Kim Chee Fried Rice. Perfect for kama‘aina and visitors—get a taste of local favorite dishes alongside the P.F. Chang’s regular menu of contemporary Chinese cuisine.
The decadence doesn’t end after the entrée. Dessert selections like the “Great-Wall-of-Chocolate,” banana spring rolls with caramel and pineapple, vanilla ice cream, or the mini bites of red velvet, carrot or mousse cakes are absolutely worth saving room for.
Special deals include the set lunch, served with one entrée, steamed brown or white rice and a vegetable side dish. Another is the P.F. Chang’s For Two, a four-course meal including soup, a starter, two entrees and dessert—all for $54.99.
If you’re in the mood for a quick bite and some sinful concoctions, the happy hour menu is a wonderful option; cocktails and dim sum start at $4 and include favorites like Egg Rolls, Pork Dumplings, Crab Wontons, Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Dynamite Shrimp.
