Eat Local

May 6, 2014 | By Sarah Pacheco

The name might sound a little strange, but there’s nothing but good things being cooked up at Goofy Cafe & Dine.

New to the Waikiki dine scene (the surfer-style cafĂ© opened in late 2013 in the second floor space at 1831 Ala Moana Blvd.), Goofy’s operates under the mission “local first, organic whenever possible.” Think farm fresh Hamakua tomatoes and mushrooms from the Big Island, or pineapple straight from the fields on O‘ahu. Even the herbs, sugar and salt used in its dishes come from island food growers and producers.

Goofy’s serves breakfast all day, every day, meaning you’ll have more than enough opportunity to sample the popular Acai Bowl ($9.50), made with Big Island honey and granola from Kaua‘i, or Goofy’s Eggs Benedict ($14), made with poached local Ka Lei eggs, homemade hollandaise sauce with liliko‘i butter and served with Okinawan purple potatoes and kale.

Other healthy favorites to try are Goofy’s fresh juices, smoothies, tapas, pastas and ‘Ahi Poke Avocado Bowl ($11).
