Sample Shore Bird Restaurant & Beach Bar—where beachfront barbeque charm is grilled fresh daily.

Enjoy picturesque sights and mouthwatering Macadamia Nut Bread Pudding at Shore Bird Restaurant & Beach Bar. Anchored on Waikiki’s crystal shoreline, this popular breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night spot touts beach barbeque fun in an inviting, back porch setting.

In operation since 1979, Shore Bird is renowned for serving fresh, quality dishes with aloha spirit to regular patrons and famous guests, including Adam Sandler and Beach Boy Mike Love, who met his wife at the restaurant.

Hailing Shore Bird as “the most funnest restaurant in town” with a smile, Brenda Roberts, kitchen manager since 1982, shares hospitable love from grill to table. “I don’t think there’s any other restaurant with such longevity,” Roberts enthuses. “The return customers show what we’re doing is really working … We capture local spirit in a casual atmosphere.”

While its bountiful breakfast ($14.95) and well-marbled burgers ($10.95–$16.95) are popular picks, the grill-your-own steak, chicken or seafood dinner, accompanied by an elaborate 20-by-8-foot salad bar, is where Shore Bird really shines.

“You’re the chef [at the grill]; we learn from you,” says assistant kitchen manager James Olkerill, who helps Shore Bird serve 500 hand-cut steaks a day. “Guests love it … It makes them want them to come back for good food with a view.”

Olkerills’ and Roberts’ menu favorites include the Pulled “Kalua” Pork with guava barbeque sauce on a taro bun, the Kalbi Chicken Kabab on a sugarcane skewer with mango and green onion, and of course, the bar’s tempting Mai Tai.

A touch on different ethnic groups, pineapple coleslaw, salted lomi lomi salmon, house-made kimchi, Japanese pickled veggies, curry quinoa and island papaya are salad bar standouts worth sampling.

Venture to Shore Bird for entertainment and feasting from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. daily. Karaoke begins at 9:30 nightly. For more information, visit www.shorebirdwaikiki.com.
