Sweet as Gold

September 5, 2014 | By Waikiki Magazine Team

Hawai‘i is to pineapples as Florida is to oranges. Renowned for its signature Sweet Gold fruit, Hawaiian Crown’s Waikiki store and cafe, Hawaiian Crown Plantation, is ripe with gourmet pickings.

The shop serves produce-packed smoothies, fresh-squeezed juices and gourmet açai bowls crowned with macadamia nuts, cacao nibs, bananas, berries, organic granola and Hawaiian honey. A shaded grass cabana tucked a few doors down provides the perfect spot to sit down for a bowl and slurp pure pineapple juice—severed straw-in-fruit for only $1 more!

Pair a Hawai‘i Island Kona or cup full of island tisane with Hawaiian Crown’s medley of locally sourced gourmet gifts— from custom trail mixes, to chocolate-dipped pineapple rings, to au naturel macadamia nuts and chocolate bars. A pioneer Hawai‘i cacao grower, Hawaiian Crown is still one of the few “tree-to-bar” chocolate producers in the U.S.

Hawaiian Crown Plantation is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
