Beyond the Everyday

One of Waikiki’s newest places to stay is a modern boutique hotel experience, providing personal service and ample amenities.

Warm service coupled with a sophisticated coast-casual design is the hallmark of Waikiki’s newest property, Vive Hotel Waikiki.

The lifestyle boutique hotel opened its doors last summer, providing guests to the Waikiki strip a retreat far from the cookie-cutter hotel stay.

“Vive’s personalized and intuitive service, combined with a casual and comfortable, yet sophisticated setting, is the perfect way to relax after a day at the beach or driving around the island taking in the sights,” says Nancy Uber of NU PR, public relations for Vive Hotel. “With its small size and attentive staff, guests will delight in a hotel experience like no other.”

And with a name that comes from words of multiple vibrant, expressive cultures—”Vive!” from the romance languages of French and Italian; “Jive!” from African-American jargon; “Vibe!” from cutting-edge hipsters—Vive aims to share with guests the hidden gems of Hawai’i that exceed the everyday.

Vive’s knowledgeable staff of local insiders is happy to reveal tips on things to do that might be a little more “off the beaten path.” Partnerships with local companies, such as Gone Surfing Hawai’i and tour packages of the North Shore and East Side, allow guests to experience different areas of the island.

“The staff at Vive wants our guests to enjoy Hawai’i in the best way possible,” Uber says.

When guests return to the hotel, conveniently located on Kuhio Avenue, they can choose from 125 extensively renovated rooms that are a blend of the simple sophistication of modern Hawai’i—fresh, multicultural and dynamic.

Each guestroom and suite is comfortably outfitted with sumptuous cotton linens and bedding, complimentary high-speed WiFi, flat-screen HD LED TVs, soothing bath amenities, a mini-fridge, an in-room safe, comfortable work station, a temperature-controlled, remote-operated air conditioner, large windows and more.

The Lifestyle Junior Suites include a sitting area where guests can kick back, relax and revel in picturesque views of the ocean, mountains or Diamond Head.

But the crown jewel of Vive is its Ultimate Penthouse Suite. Located at the very top of the hotel’s 22nd floor, where panoramic views of Waikiki and the crystalline Pacific Ocean alone will undoubtedly take your breath away, the suite is comprised of three spacious guestrooms and a 700-square-foot meeting and event space.

Rooms may be booked individually or together, providing a variety of options for guests looking for a departure from the typical hotel experience.

Along with Vive’s standard accommodations, its penthouse suite also offers a built-in kitchen and bar for entertaining, a seating area with ample room to mingle, a communal table that seats up to 12 and a 55-inch flat screen HD LED TV.

When combined into one large suite, the penthouse can accommodate up to 20 guests, making it the perfect space for throwing a party, entertaining clients or hosting a board meeting.

“The penthouse is geared toward both private parties who would like to entertain and hold meetings and events in the suite, as well as guests looking to ‘step it up a notch’ and stay in an apartment-like setting while they are in Waikiki,” Uber says. “With a full kitchen and living room, it’s a great place to call home while visiting O’ahu.”
