Skin Fix

Treat your skin—and yourself—to these facial treatments that use everything from massage, light therapy, moisture masks and even the power of rice.

Those unprepared for Hawai’i’s strong sun learn quickly from the telltale pink of sun-exposed skin. Less apparent is the cumulative toll of heat, salt water or vapor, and perspiration that can leave skin parched, with clogged pores. On top of that, invisible UVA rays penetrate the skin’s deepest layer, resulting in rapid skin aging. So much for the afterglow of a tropical vacation.

To bring skin back to its natural balance, some professional intervention goes a long way in restoring vitality and radiance. Here are a few spas ready to offer the TLC you need:

The Spa at Trump

The “Ultimate Kate” facial was created exclusively for The Spa at Trump by celebrity skin guru Kate Somerville. The 90-minute treatment begins with a hydrating oxygen treatment using dermal boosters that plump the skin with nutrients. After a relaxing pressure-point massage, the experience continues with Derma lucent therapy to protect skin from free radical damage. The service includes a relaxing foot and hand massage. The cost is $350.

Moana Lani Spa

A heavenly glow is the aim of the spa’s “For A Better You” treatment, designed to leave you feeling your best from head to toe. Treatment begins with body manipulation and a wrap to address cellulite or problem areas and promote slimming. This is followed by a hydrating facial utilizing Rice Force products containing Rice Power Extract. The extract was formulated by scientists seeking to unlock the secret of sake brewers, whose hands remained soft and supple over time after daily contact with rice. The Rice Power molecules are small enough to penetrate layers of dermis, helping the skin to retain moisture. A relaxing scalp treatment and foot massage are also part of the treatment. The 80-minute service is $250. 6
